Michael Ernest Piantoni, aged 20, was born on March 21, 1924 in Butte, Silver Bow County, Montana. He served in the 737th Tank Battalion as a Private during World War II. He was declared "Missing in Action" on September 18, 1944 during the battle for liberation of Agincourt, France and is commemorated on Tablets of the Missing, Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-Avold, Departement de la Moselle, Lorraine, France. He also has memorials located in Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, Meade County, South Dakota and Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Butte, Silver Bow County, Montana.
