George E. Anderson served in the Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant and Navigator on the C47A aircraft. Their mission was to transport troops, military supplies and food in Burma. On 18 Feb 1944, for some unstated reason their plane crashed. Six in his crew (including Anderson) was killed and two survived. He shares a common grave with his crew in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA and listed on a group headstone. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
