Wilford C. Bailey was born on October 19, 1913. He served in the 2nd Combat Cargo Group as a Staff Sergeant and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. He died on January 10, 1945 at the age of 31 and is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. Wilford was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but his name is inscribed as Wilfed.
