Frank Blaesing, Jr. was born on July 30, 1922 in Illinois. He was the son of Frank Antone Blaesing and Vesta Louisa Newberry Blaesing. He served in the Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant. Frank was killed while serving as a tail gunner in French Indo-China on March 22, 1944 at the age of 21 and is now buried in the Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, Adams County, Illinois, USA. Frank was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
