Edwin Walker Comstock, Jr. was born on May 15, 1918, the son of Edwin Walker Comstock, Sr. and Ellie Comstock. He enlisted in the Army 8 Jan. 1943 in Los Angeles, California. The family lived in Compton, California many years. He served in the 678th Bomber Squadron, 444th Bomber Group, Very Heavy as a Corporal. Edwin was killed when U.S. Army Air Corps B-29-5-BW Superfortress #42-6262 "Round Trip Ticket", which he was a Tail Gunner, was shot down by enemy fighter over Mukden, Manchuria. Ten other airmen also perished. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. Edwin was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
