George E Gamble, Jr. was born on April 6, 1916. He resided at Monroe County, New York prior to the war. George served as a Second Lieutenant, 26th Fighter Squadron, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was "Killed In Action" over French Indo-China during the war on December 4, 1944 at the age of 28. He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester, Monroe County, New York, USA on May 29, 1948. George was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
