Bryan R. Gilliam was born on July 13, 1920 in Kentucky. He was the son of William Bryan Gilliam and Sadie Rhea Hill Gilliam. Flight Officer Gilliam was the co-pilot of B-24D #42-41253 with the 1390th Air Force Base Unit. The plane crashed into a mountain twenty miles east-northeast of Mokokchung India. All four men aboard were killed. He is now buried in the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, USA in a common grave with Captain Raymond Armoska. F/O Gilliam was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
