George H. Harmony was born on February 25, 1921. He served in the US Air Corps as a Technical Sergeant and Flight Engineer of an aircraft during World War II. On April 23, 1943, B-24D #41-24279 "BETTY-G" crashed six miles from Cahaba field (en route from its operational base in Chengkung, China), just before landing. He is now buried in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, USA.

George was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but death date is inscribed as 1943-04-24.
