Fred Dorwin Helm was born on January 27, 1916 in Adams County, Indiana. He served in the US Air Corps as a Sergeant and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. He died on January 25, 1944 at the age of 27 and is now buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
