Walter W. Hillier was born on May 3, 1916. He served in the 374th Bomber Squadron, 308th Bomber Group, Heavy as a Second Lieutenant. He died on October 26, 1944 at the age of 28 and is now buried in the Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois, USA. Walter was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
