Clifford L. Howard was born on September 4, 1919. He served in the US Air Corps as a Private and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. Clifford died on December 21, 1944 at the age of 25 and is now buried in the Milton-Freewater IOOF Cemetery, Milton-Freewater, Umatilla County, Oregon, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
