Omer E. Huntington was born on June 5, 1917 in Glencoe, McLeod County, Minnesota. He was the son of Edward Frederick Huntington and Lucia Celestine (Mayer) Huntington. Huntington was the pilot of C-87 #41-11907, assigned to the 22nd Transport Group 77th Transport Squadron. They took off from Jorhat India carrying cargo to Kunming China. The plane never arrived and the crew was never seen again. Because his body was not recovered, he is memorialized on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. Omer was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
