Floyd Leon Jones, Jr. was born on July 11, 1921 in Merced County, California. He was the son of Floyd and Gladys Euphemia Burke Jones. He was the crew chief on C-87 #41-11907, assigned to the 22nd Transport Group 77th Transport Squadron. They took off from Jorhat India carrying cargo to Kunming China. The plane never arrived and the crew was never seen again. Because his body was not recovered, he is memorialized on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. Floyd, Jr. was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
