Norman E. Jones, Jr. was born on January 19, 1920. He served in the 1332nd Army Air Force Base Unit as a Flight Officer and Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. Flight Officer Jones was the only crew member who lost his life in a plane crash in Upper Assam, India, June 14, 1945. The other members of the crew had time to parachute safely from the plane which was piloted and commanded by Flight Officer Jones. He is now buried in the Rose Lawn Park Cemetery, Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
