Emery H. Kemp was born on October 7, 1921. He was the son of Walter Monroe Kemp and Lois Kathryn Tekell Kemp. He enlisted in the Army in the Texas National Guard on July 16, 1942. He served in the US Air Corps as a Technical Sergeant during World War II. Emery was killed in a plane crash in China on August 21, 1943 at the age of 21. He is now buried in the Richland Cemetery, Mertens, Hill County, Texas, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
