Dwight W. Lohuis was born on July 15, 1919. He was the son of Dirk W. Lohuis and Anna DeMaster Lohuis. He served in the 27th Troop Carrier Squadron as a Technical Sergeant during World War II. He died on May 3, 1944 in Sylhet, India at the age of 24 and is now buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Holland, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, USA. Dwight was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
