James M. Lynch was born on August 30, 1921. He served in the 769th Bomber Squadron, 462nd Bomber Group, Very Heavy as a Staff Sergeant and Gunner of an aircraft during World War II. He perished when the U.S. Army Air Corps B-29-5-BW Superfortress #42-6263 ditched off Kurmitola, India. Three crew members were killed but eight survived and were rescued. James is now buried in the Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale, Suffolk County, New York, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
