James L. McCauley was born on June 17, 1921. He served in the 30th Bombardment Squadron as a Private and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. 2nd Lieutenant McCauley was killed in the crash of U.S. Army Air Corps B-29-75-BW Superfortress #44-70092 at North Field, Guam. Nine other servicemen also perished. He is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. 2Lt McCauley is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
