Gordon M. Neitzel was born on April 16, 1924. He served in the 678th Bomber Squadron, 444th Bomber Group, Very Heavy as a Sergeant and Radar Operator of an aircraft during World War II. Sergeant Neitzel was killed when U.S. Air Corps. B-29-5-BW Superfortress #42-6262 "Round Trip Ticket" was shot down by enemy fighter over Mukden, Manchuria. Ten other airmen also perished. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
