Patrick E. Ray was born on April 29, 1919 in Caldwell County, Kentucky. He served in the 67th Army Air Force Base Unit as a Technical Sergeant during World War II. He lost his life in a plane crash at Jorhat, Assam, India during WWII in the Burma Theater. He was in a B-24, transporting troops when his plane went down along the Hump Route. Tsgt Ray is now buried in the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
