Francis P. Reed was born on April 3, 1923. He served in the US Air Corps as a Sergeant and Gunner of an aircraft during World War II. He was killed in the crash of a B-29 Superfortress in a remote area within the region once called "Lololand", China. All other crew members were able to bail out successfully. Sergeant Reed was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
