Eugene L. Jones was born on July 25, 1887 in Tillman, Jasper County, South Carolina. He served in the 402nd Telephone Battalion, Signal Corps as a Corporal during World War I. Corporal Jones died of pneumonia on December 3, 1918 in France at the age of 31 and is now buried in the St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France.
