Jack Cedrick Stephens was born on May 5, 1914 in Arco, Butte County, Idaho. He was the son of Ralph Edward Stephens and Lulu Gladys (Starnes) Stephens. Jack served in the Quartermaster Corps branch of the US Air Corps as a Private and food dropper in an aircraft during World War II. He died on September 1, 1944 at the age of 30 in Myanmar and is now buried in the Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, San Mateo County, California, USA. Pvt Stephens was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
