Walter J. Sullivan was born on August 31, 1920. He served in the 1328th Army Air Force Base Unit as a Corporal and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. He died on May 28, 1944 at the age of 23 and is now buried in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Muskogee County, Oklahoma, USA. Cpl Sullivan was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but death date is inscribed as 1944-05-27.
