J. Warren Tharp was born on January 18, 1924. He served in the US Air Corps as a Private First Class and Assistant Engineer of an aircraft during World War II. He died on June 6, 1945 at the age of 21 and is now buried in the Fort Smith National Cemetery, Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas, USA in a common grave with F/O Montgomery. PFC Tharp was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
