Donald J. Tomcheck was born on October 5, 1920. He served in the 97th Squadron, 28th Transport Group as a Private First Class and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. He died on July 10, 1944 at the age of 23 and is now buried in the Resurrection Cemetery, Helena, Lewis and Clark County, Montana, USA. PFC Tomcheck was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
