Joseph C. Wojtisek, Jr. was born in 1923. He was the son of Joseph and Mary Kathryn Ondeyka Wojtisek. He served in the 425th Bomber Squadron, 308th Bomber Group as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He died on January 10, 1945 and is now buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Jerome, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, USA. Ssgt Wojtisek was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
