Joseph H. Zuber was born on February 15, 1921 in Pennsylvania. He served in the 1330th Army Air Force Base Unit as a Private First Class and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. He died on December 19, 1944 at the age of 23 and is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. He also has a cenotaph located in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.

PFC Zuber was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
