John Alexander Vick was born on January 11, 1916. He was the son of Christian Frederick Vick and Anna Christensen Vick. He was a C46 pilot and a First Lieutenant during WWII. He died when his plane accidentally crashed in Chengkung China on November 17, 1943 at the age of 27. He is buried in Oakland Cemetery in Saint Paul. 1Lt Vick was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but death date is inscribed as 1943-11-18.
