BIO: James Lyons Goggins was born in New Haven Connecticut in 1891. He attended Georgetown University where he was a football star. He joined the Navy and was an early Naval Aviator. He served as an instructor pilot serving at the Lake Bolsena training facility in central Italy and then at NAS Porto Corsini. He died during a training flight on August 11, 1918. His sacrifice is commemorated on a plaque at the Port of Ravenna, Italy.
