Richard H. Loring was born on April 25, 1913 in Brockton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. He was a member of 2nd Fighter Squadron, 52nd Fighter Group when the B-25 bomber he was killed in crashed into Monte Cagna, near Sartene, Corsica. CPL Loring's remains were recovered in 1989 and identified in 2005. He is interred at Arlington National Cemetery. CPL Loring's name is permanently inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at the Florence American Cemetery and Memorial. A rosette is placed next to his name to mark that the he now rests in the known gravesite. Richard also has a cenotaph located in Central Cemetery, Carver, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. His name is also commemorated on a plaque located in Bonifacio, France and ranked as a Private.
