Comments:

James Duane Clark was born on February 8, 1916. He was the son of Melvin Riley Clark and Mabel Dunshee Clark. He served in the 563rd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy as a First Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of B-17 2-97101 "Cicero Kid" aircraft during World War II. He was Killed in Action on November 9, 1944 in Fouches, Belgium when their plane exploded and crashed in mid-air over the fighting lines at the French-German border before the plane reached its target. 1Lt Clark is now buried in the Chariton Cemetery, Chariton, Lucas County, Iowa, USA. He was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
