Leroy Adcock Coy was born on October 24, 1919 in Wood Lake, Cherry County, Nebraska. He graduated from Randolph High School and worked on his father's farm. He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Des Moines, Iowa on 31 March 1942. He trained in California, Texas and New Mexico and was commissioned la lieutenant and received his wings in Albuquerque, New Mexico on 27 March 1943.

A member of the Davis crew, he was killed when their plane, #42-3548 "Little Willie" which he was a Navigator, was hit by flak at the Northern defenses of the Rhur Valley. The pilot left the formation with the engines smoking but under control. Shortly afterwards, the crew bailed out and the plane blew-up. Leroy was Killed in Action and the others became POWs. He is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium. 2Lt Coy was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
