Comments:

Keith Garwood Farley was born on was born on February 15, 1922. He was the son of Estley Roy Farley and Helen Clare Currey Farley. Keith attended high school for 4 years. He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States on 26 January 1943. Before he entered the U.S. Army, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Keith served in the 561st Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy as a First Lieutenant and Pilot of #43-38558 aircraft during World War II. He was Killed in Action on February 25, 1945 and is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium. While in the bomb run, just before bombs away, the airplane received a direct flak burst in the right wing. The wing caught fire and a few moments later, the airplane exploded.

Four crew members survived and were taken prisoner. Four other crew members were killed in the explosion or in the crash. Lt Farley landed safely with his parachute but was killed by German soldiers. They said he was trying to escape and they shot him. This has to be doubted because this was a standard answer why allied airmen were shot after the landing due to Nazi orders. He was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
