David Eliot Fuller was born on March 9, 1919 in Indiana. He was the son of James Arlando Fuller and Esther Priscilla Young Fuller. He entered the military and was trained as a flight engineer and also as an aerial gunner. Dacid was assigned to a combat crew on a B-17, which was ferried to Knettishall, England in June, 1943. There, the crew was assigned to the 563rd Bomb Squadron of the 388th Bomb Group.

The crew flew three missions, and on July 26, 1943, were scheduled to participate in a bombing raid on Hanover, Germany. Resistance, both by flak and enemy fighters, was minimal on the in-bound trip. Over the target, however, flak became intense and accurate. The bombing was reported successful, with all bombs landing on target.

On the return trip, the aircraft Fuller was in was hit by flak, and dropped out of formation. Eventually, it ditched in the North Sea where most of the crew were picked up by a German Sea Rescue boat. Fuller was badly wounded, and was sent to the Marine Hospital in Emden, Prussia where he died as a prisoner of war on August 27, 1943.

Tsgt Fuller was eventually buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery in Belgium. He was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
