George Timothy Basiardanes was born in 1920. He had one son with Melpomene Magalou in 1962. He enlisted in the Army on October 12, 1942 during World War II. He was 22 years old. George was one of the Greek-American volunteers who served in Company C, 2671 Special Reconnaissance Battalion, an OSS operational group. This "Greek Battalion" aided the Greek armed resistance in 1944 in their fight against the occupying and then withdrawing German Army. He died on September 21, 1992 in Galveston, Texas, at the age of 72. His current burial place is unknown.
