Joseph C. Ciras was born on January 23, 1924 in Massachusetts to Thomas and Justine (Churlionis) Ciras, he was a graduate of Methuen High School where he was inducted into the Sport's Hall of Fame for his outstanding performance as an all around athlete, playing basketball, football, and baseball. He then attended Bridgton, Maine Prep School until his education was interrupted by World War II.

He served as a member of the Office of Strategic Services and the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He also served with the 2571st Special Recon. Battalion Provisional in the European Theater. He received a Victory Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, and The European, African, and Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbons. Joe retired from his position as a Finishing Coordinator at Maiden Mills in 1985 and then moved to Fort Myers, Fla.

Joseph died on January 21, 2010 at the age of 85.
