When Nicholas (Nick) Harry Cominos was born on May 14, 1923, in Salinas, California, his father, Harry, was 30 and his mother, Helen, was 27. Nick enlisted in the Army on December 14, 1942. He was one of the Greek-American volunteers who served in Company C, 2671 Special Reconnaissance Battalion, an OSS operational group. This "Greek Battalion" aided the Greek armed resistance in 1944 in their fight against the occupying and then withdrawing German Army. Nick died on March 14, 2008, in Walnut Creek, California, at the age of 84. His current burial place is unknown.
