Dean Maryland Lowdermilk was born on June 23, 1923. He enlisted in the Army on May 5, 1923 in South Carolina. Dean was one of the Greek-American volunteers who served in Company C, 2671 Special Reconnaissance Battalion, an OSS operational group. This "Greek Battalion" aided the Greek armed resistance in 1944 in their fight against the occupying and then withdrawing German Army. He died on September 20, 1977 and is now buried in the Russell Memorial Cemetery, Lebanon, Russell County, Virginia, USA.
