Steve P. Marthiakes was born on September 21, 1921. He was one of the Greek-American volunteers who served in Company C, 2671 Special Reconnaissance Battalion, an OSS operational group. This "Greek Battalion" aided the Greek armed resistance in 1944 in their fight against the occupying and then withdrawing German Army. Steve died on December 15, 1993 at the age of 72 and is now buried in the Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, Suffolk County, New York, USA.
