Nicholas Demetreos Papapanu was born on June 22, 1905. He was one of the Greek-American volunteers who served in Company C, 2671 Special Reconnaissance Battalion, an OSS operational group. This "Greek Battalion" aided the Greek armed resistance in 1944 in their fight against the occupying and then withdrawing German Army. Nicholas died on November 25, 1999 at the age of 94 and is now buried in the Webster Rural Cemetery, Webster, Monroe County, New York, USA.
