Nicholas G. Pappas was born in New York. He was orphaned at age 7 and was raised by St. Nicholas Church of New York City, NY. Nicholas graduated from the Morris High School in New York City and received a military education. Nick was fluent in English, Greek, Russian and Arabic. During WWII, Nick was a US Army Lieutenant, volunteered for the 122nd Infantry Battalion, also known as The Greek Battalion that was instrumental in the liberation of Greece from German forces. Nick was also part of the OSS Special Forces Group Company C 2671, Special Reconnaissance Battalion. He died on September 5, 2015 at Foulk Manor South in Wilmington and is now buried in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, New Castle County, Delaware, USA. His rank is Lieutenant Colonel on his headstone.
