George S. Tiniakos was born in 1914. He served in the Greek Army from October 10, 1938 to January 2, 1940 when he was discharged as a Corporal with the 10th Company of the 15th Infantry Regiment. George was one of the Greek-American volunteers who served in Company C, 2671 Special Reconnaissance Battalion, an OSS operational group. This "Greek Battalion" aided the Greek armed resistance in 1944 in their fight against the occupying and then withdrawing German Army. After Greece, George joined the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Division and fought at the European Battle Front. After the war, he returned home to the Greek island of Andros and married.

George died in 2004 at the age of 90 and now rests with his wife Katherine, at Korthi, her hometown, near the sea on Andros Island.
