James J. Zevitas was born on August 26, 1920. He enlisted in the Army on January 15, 1941 in Boston, Massachusetts. James was one of the Greek-American volunteers who served in Company C, 2671 Special Reconnaissance Battalion, an OSS operational group. This "Greek Battalion" aided the Greek armed resistance in 1944 in their fight against the occupying and then withdrawing German Army. He died on January 27, 2002 at the age of 81 and is now buried in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, USA.
