Joseph Frank Zien was born on September 20, 1912. He was one of the Greek-American volunteers who served in Company C, 2671 Special Reconnaissance Battalion, an OSS operational group. This "Greek Battalion" aided the Greek armed resistance in 1944 in their fight against the occupying and then withdrawing German Army. Joseph died on September 21, 1996 at the age of 84 and is now buried in the Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois, USA. His rank is Technician 3rd Grade on his headstone.
