William George Campbell was born on November 20, 1920. He was the son of Charles Walter Campbell and Georgetta Bishop Campbell. William served in the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He died on February 17, 1945 at the age of 24 during the battle for the recapture of Corregidor, Philippines against the defending Japanese garrison on the island and is now buried in the Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth, Portsmouth City, Virginia, USA.
