Charles L. Fox, Jr. was born on April 30, 1920. He was the son of Charles L. and Rossalia Cecil Swift Fox. After leaving school he worked with his father as a painter for a time. Later, he was an employe of the BeechNut Packing Co., Canajoharie, before his induction to the Army on February 7, 1943. In October, 1943 he left for the Pacific war theatre, in the 503rd Paratrooper Infantry. He took part in several of the campaigns in the Southwest Pacific. He was Killed in Action on February 22, 1945 at the age of 24, during the battle for the recapture of Corregidor, Philippines against the defending Japanese garrison on the island and is now buried in the Fort Plain Cemetery, Fort Plain, Montgomery County, New York, USA.
