William Curtis Hefner was born on December 20, 1920. He was the son of Curtis Fonzo Hefner and Jerusha Palestine Laney Hefner. William served in the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on February 26, 1945 at the age of 24, during the battle for the recapture of Corregidor, Philippines against the defending Japanese garrison on the island and is now buried in the Lando Cemetery, Lando, Chester County, South Carolina, USA.
