Howard James Jandro was born on January 19, 1925 in Rice County, Minnesota. He was the son of Edward S. Jandro and Elizabeth Mary Van Der Putte Jandro. He served in the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment as a Private during World War II. Pvt Jandro was declared Missing in Action on February 26, 1945. His name is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. His name is also commemorated on the Rock Force Memorial located at Top Side - Corregidor Island, Philippines but his rank is inscribed at Private First Class.
