Albert Carl “Flip” Lovenguth was born on September 11, 1918 in New York. He was the son of Stuert R. Lovenguth and Reba E. Williams Lovenguth. Albert entered the service in January 1944 and was trained at Camp Croft, SC, and Fort Benning, GA, where he attended paratroop school. He served in the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment as a Private during World War II. PVT Lovenguth was Killed in Action on February 18, 1945 at the age of 26, at Battery Point on the island of Corregidor, Philippines, during the battle for the recapture of Corregidor, Philippines against the defending Japanese garrison. He was declared missing and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.
